The Ratneshwar Mahadev Temple, located near Manikarnika Ghat, is one of the most beautifully carved temples in Varanasi. Although this ancient temple was initially straight, over time, it has tilted by approximately 9 degrees, which is a unique feature. Except during the summer, the garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum) of the temple usually remains submerged in water.
Interestingly, a photograph from the 1860s shows the temple standing straight, indicating that the tilt developed later.
